Michael Harper, 74, died November 18, 2022 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. He was born October 9, 1948 to William O. and Bette J. Schlatter Harper in Sigourney. He attended Sigourney Schools and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1966 and attended Central College.  He served in the United States Air Force. On October 12, 1974 he married Darlene Bixby, they later divorced. Mike was employed at McCleery Calendar Factory in Washington. He later married Marites (Mary) Adto on June 8, 2015 at Belva Deer Park near Sigourney and they made their home in Keota. Mike was a member of the Keota VFW and helped with the Keota Veterans Memorial park. He enjoyed spending time with his family, the Iowa Hawkeyes, hunting, playing Farmville and taking motorcycle rides with Mary. He loved to line dance and  ice cream, especially homemade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason Alan Harper, and sister-in- law Karol Harper.

He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Kelley (Josh) Fettkether of Iowa City, step-son June Daing of Keota, two step-children and  several step-grandchildren from the Philippines, two sisters Sheri (Jeff) Gann of Sigourney, Debi (D.J). Flanders of Sigourney, one brother Doug Harper of Wasta, South Dakota, several and many nieces and nephews.

Mike's family chose to let someone else see this beautiful world by donating the gift of sight to someone in need.

A memorial fund has been established.
