Marjorie Griner

July 8, 1921 — January 9, 2020

Marjorie Mae Griner, 98, died January 9, 2020 at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born July 8, 1921 to Jack and Elma Allum Mauldin in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Arlington Heights High school. During World War II, Margie was employed at Consolidated Industries as a timekeeper where they built bomber airplanes. On August 12, 1949 she married Keith Albert Griner in Fort Worth. They made their home near Webster where they lived and farmed. Later, Margie was employed at Pioneer Seed and the University of Iowa Hospitals in housekeeping. Margie moved into Sigourney in 1988. She was a good neighbor to everyone. She was a member of the Webster Methodist Church, WSCS, UMW and taught Sunday school and Bible school. She enjoyed volunteering at the nursing homes, the Methodist Church Friendship Company and delivered Meals on Wheels. During baseball season you could always catch Margie watching her favorite team the Chicago Cubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, on June 3, 1985, two sons, Joe and Jeff Griner, three sisters, Dorothy Nail, Geraldine McElroy and Ruth Ashmore.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Terry) Butler of Sigourney, daughter-in-law, Vicki Griner of Sigourney, six grandchildren- Lindsay Kramer (Luke Ribbens), Jack (Sara) Butler, Luke Griner, Katelyn Griner, Sarah (Dan) Pinkerton, Andrew (Carrie) Griner, seven great-grandchildren Hannah, Rachel and Jonathan Pinkerton, Carl and Franklin Griner, Wesley Kramer, Grace Butler and her sister Helen "Pink" McCarty of Aurora, Texas.
