Joseph Kiefer

Keswick

Joseph Leroy Kiefer. 69, passed peacefully on Tuesday December 3, 2019 at the Hospice Bird House in Iowa City after a short illness. Joe was born March 17, 1950 to Richard and Colleen Mather Kiefer in Sigourney.  He graduated from Tri-County High School in Thornburg in 1968 and was a charter member of the Tri - County FFA. On July 2, 1983 he married Joan Denning at St. Johns Church in Houghton. Joe lived and farmed most of his life in the Keswick area and later he worked at Bender Foundry in Sigourney for 24 years.  In September Joe and Joan moved to Tiffin. Joe enjoyed being outside mowing grass or just sitting on his porch swing.  He enjoyed going to the Keswick lumberyard to visit with his friends. Joe loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney and a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Keswick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Russell, brother- in- laws Glen Richenberger and Tom Denning one sister- in- law Rita Beach.
He is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Jolene (Jeff) Tomlinson of North Liberty, 2 grandchildren Joy and Jet, brother Ed (Barb) Kiefer of Geneseo, Illinois, and other family members: Brian (Stephanie) Kiefer, Alex and Jackson, Sarah (Ryan) Clarin, Myles and Molly Luke Beach, Mike (Rachel) and Mae Beach, Katie (Eddie) Hartnett, Alex Ralston, Jake Ralston. Tony and Braden Denning, Brian, Rayna Denning and Brenna Denning, Don and Kathy Peterson, Pat Richenberger, Kenny Beach, Alan and Diane Ralston and Sarah Denning.
