Floyd Strupp

February 3, 1932 — June 28, 2022

Sigourney

Floyd Homer Strupp, 90, passed away on June 28, 2022. Floyd was born on February 3, 1932, to Homer and Grace (Goeldner) Strupp. While in high school he was a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and knew he wanted to become a farmer. After graduating from Sigourney High School in 1950 he began his farming career. He always credited his career path to his FFA instructor, Alvin Donahoo.

He was united in marriage to Leta (Jean) Fauth on August 14, 1952. Shortly thereafter, he was called to active duty and proudly served in Korea with Charlie Battery 49th Field Artillery, 7th Division. Once discharged from the Army, Floyd and Jean lived, farmed and raised their family around the Sigourney area until settling on Jean’s family farm in 1963. Not only was he an active farmer, he sold Pioneer Seed Corn for 28 years. Floyd always wanted to farm for 50 years. He well exceeded his goal.

His other passions included following Sigourney High School football, Iowa Hawkeye Football and Basketball, playing cards with family and friends, along with making and consuming homemade ice cream (which included cleaning off the dasher to verify product satisfaction)!

Throughout the years he served on multiple boards consisting of Lancaster Heritage Inc., Keokuk County Historical Society, Keokuk County VA, Farm Bureau and was a 4-H Leader for Plank Junior Farmers.

Floyd kept in contact with army buddies he had served with and finally, after extensive research was able to reconnect with the majority. From then on, the group and their wives met annually for long weekends of enjoying each other’s company and reminiscing about their military days and making new memories.

Floyd was proceeded in death by his wife (Jean) and his parents. Those left to mourn his passing are son Dwight (Dianna) Strupp of Sigourney, daughters Charlotte McVey of Pleasant Hill, and Karen (Michael) Maas of Sigourney, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, sister Lora Lee Sellers of Sigourney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lancaster Heritage Inc. or the Keokuk County Historical Society.
