David Michael Tremmel

David Michael Tremmel, 72, died December 17, 2019 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.  He was born September 24, 1947 to John J. and Marie (Chacey) Tremmel in Sigourney, Iowa. David graduated in 1965 from Sigourney High School, after high school he attended Keokuk Jr. College and played baseball.  Then transferred to Northeast Missouri State and got his degree in Education.  In 1971 he was united in marriage to his wife of 48 years, Nancy Margaret Mather, at Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church in Keswick.  They were blessed with three children Shannon (Chris) Webb of Hayesville, Regina (Matt) Snakenberg of Flower Mound, TX, and Zach (Tiffany) Tremmel of Sigourney.  His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
David spent 38 years on the courts doing what he truly loved, coaching basketball.  He loved the game, but more importantly the players.  Over the years he coached at Amana, Washington, Iowa Wesleyan, Iowa City, City High, Newton, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Williamsburg, and Sigourney.  He coached 8 teams to the state tournament.  He found his most success at Washington taking home the State Championship Title in 1986.  David was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2011, the same year he got his 500th win, one of his fondest memories in a game against his son Zach, that also coached.
David always lived life to the fullest, he could be found at his kids and grandkids sporting events, playing a round of golf, enjoying a cold Busch Light and making friends with anyone he met, he never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle Rex Chacey, Father-in-law Joe H. Mather.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of Sigourney, three children Shannon (Chris) Webb of Hayesville, Regina (Matt) Snakenberg of Flower Mound, TX, and Zach (Tiffany) Tremmel of Sigourney, 9 grandchildren Zebulen Christopher Webb, Zeke Edward Webb, Zoe Margaret Webb, Drew Matthew Snakenberg, Ellie Marie Snakenberg, Jack Seaton Snakenberg, Adalynne Marie Tremmel, Jordan Michael Tremmel and Bryson David Tremmel and his Mother-In-Law Maxine Mather of Sigourney.
