William "Bill" Orville Harper, 87, died November 7, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born June 8, 1922 to Clifford Marshall and Gwendolyn Turner Harper north of Sigourney, Iowa. He graduated from Sigourney High school in 1939 and attended Iowa State University in Ames. He served in the Army Air Corp. during World War II.. Bill helped farm the family farm with his father and his brother. On July 19, 1947 he married Bette Jean Schlatter in Washington, Iowa. They lived and farmed in Van Buren Township until 2009 when Bill and Bette moved to Sigourney. At the Iowa State Fair Bill and Bette were honored having a Century plus farm.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Webb Lodge #182 A.F. and A.M., American Legion in Keswick, and a former 4-H Leader, Farm Bureau member and Keokuk County Cattlemen Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Harper, sister Vida Osweiler, and a grandson Jason Harper.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife: Bette of Sigourney, two sons: Mike Harper of Ankeny, Doug and wife Karol Harper of Wasta, South Dakota two daughters: Sheri and husband Jeff Gann, Debi and husband D.J. Flanders both of Sigourney, seven grandchildren: Jarred Gann, Mindy Flanders, Kari Tinnes, Jake Flanders, Kelley Harper, Jillian Flanders, Audrina Harper, three great- grandchildren: Alexander Gann, Mariah Tinnes and Makayla Tinnes sister-in-law Lucille Harper of Webster and many other family and friends.

Visitation: Monday after 4:00 P.M. - Masonic Service 7:00 P.M.
