Verena Snakenberg

April 11, 1921 — May 28, 2013


Verena Magdalena Snakenberg, 92, passed into eternal life on May 28, 2013 at the Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney surrounded by members of her loving family. She was born April 11, 1921 near Harper to Peter J. and Pearl C. (Sondag) Adam. Verena graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in Harper and attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Ottumwa. On February 9, 1943 she was united in marriage with William Dale Snakenberg in Lancaster, Missouri. Following their marriage they moved to the family farm northeast of Sigourney, they spent their lives farming and raising their family. After the death of her husband she moved into Sigourney. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society.
Verena enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, playing cards with her friends and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Verena was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, daughter Rose Ann Snakenberg, two great-granddaughters, nine brothers and sisters.
Verena is survived by her children Mary Lee (Jim) Kobs of Mt. Pleasant, William E. (Linda) Snakenberg of Oskaloosa, Sharon K. (Rodger) Aller of Sigourney, R. Fred (Karen) Snakenberg of Sigourney, Barbara Snakenberg of Colorado Springs, CO, Joseph D. (Melia) Snakenberg of Webster, 15 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren, one sister Edith Hammes Warnick of Delta, one brother Harry Joe Adam of Columbus City.

Prayer Service: Friday 5:00 P.M. Holm Funeral Home
Visitation: Friday 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Holm Funeral Home
Burial: St, Mary - Pleasant Grove Cemetery Sigourney
