Shirley Watson

October 31, 1939 — September 8, 2016

Shirley Grace "Ulin" Watson passed away September 8, 2016 at 3:25pm at the KCHC. She was born to Leroy Ulin and Nettie Vittetoe on October 31, 1939. She attended and graduated from Sigourney High School. On October 15, 1960 she married Lawrence "Buck" Larry Watson at the St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church in Sigourney. To this union she welcomed John David, Danny Duane, Julie Grace and Larry Thomas (Tommy). She has worked as a dispatcher for Bud Wallerich when he was the Sheriff. She also worked at the Hayesville Savings Bank. Since then she has worked primarily at the Farmer's Savings Bank fulltime,(before it became a branch of the Libertyville Savings Bank), for approximately 40 + years, until she decided to reduce her hours to part time in January of 2015. Once she part-time retired she enjoyed helping her granddaughter Whitney with her daycare children, the children she grew to love as her own grandchildren. She loved her music, her flowers and watching her birds and wildlife. She also enjoyed her fishing. She had a very strong faith in the Lord. Her greatest joy was her kids, 10 grandkids and 9 great grandkids. She was a member of the Hilltop Chapel in What Cheer. She never shied away from giving any of us her advice in what "NOT" to do, or "WHAT" to do, if asked . Towards the end of her blessed life, she became more open to sharing her opinions and advice with life experiences.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, son Tommy Watson, grandson Justin Watson, great grandson Jaxson Dodson and her sister Jeanette Adams.
She is survived by two sons: John (Rachele) Watson of Williamsburg, Dan (Melinda) Watson of Keota and daughter Julie (Tom) Klein of Sigourney, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, 3 brothers: Richard Ulin of Washington, Roger Ulin of Sigourney, Jearold Ulin of Oklahoma, and sister Nancy Weber of Sigourney. She also leaves behind numerous close friends, family and daycare children who loved her dearly.
