Richard Lindy Mahan, 81, of North English, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the North English Care Center. He was born May 26, 1928, near Thornburg, to John and Lydia Coghlan Mahan. He attended school in South English. On November 3, 1946, he married Rose Marie Cavin, in Sigourney. He worked for John Deere in Moline and retired after 35 years working at Amana Refigeration. He was a member of the AFLCIO. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Clella, and eight brothers, Cecil, Carlton. Chester, Theodore, Leonard, Leland, and Paul Mahan.
He is survived by his wife Rose, a daughter Linda Scott of North English, four sons Dan Mahan of Ladora, Donald and his wife Lynda Mahan of Marion, Terry Mahan of North English, R.J. and his wife Michelle Mahan of Ladora, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 28, 2009, at the South English Baptist Church. Burial South English Cemetery.
Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
