Raymond Ernest Conklin, 86, died November 6, 2014 at University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born October 12, 1928 to Rollie and Blanche V. Brumback Conklin in Sigourney, Iowa. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1948 and served in the United States Army. On May 27, 1951 he married Anita Jean Patterson at the Delta Christian Church. Raymond was employed by What Cheer Clay Products, Dicks Corner, William Penn College and Amana Refrigeration retiring in 1993 and later Walmart in Fairfield and Ottumwa. He was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church, a 50 year member of Eastern Star and Webb Lodge #182 A.F. and A.M. and he sang with the Wapello Chiefs Barbershop Chorus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Velda O'Leer and Evelyn Schwenke, five brothers Harold Conklin, Glen Conklin, Joe Conklin, Bob Conklin, and Paul Conklin.
He is survived by his wife Anita, three sons Michael (Carol) Conklin of Alexandria, Virginia, Greg (Sherry) Conklin of Altus, Oklahoma, Jeffrey (Amy) Conklin of Iowa City, one daughter Pamela Conklin and fiancé Randy Cavanaugh of Sigourney, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a special niece Shirlee (Armando) Barajas of Orcutt, CA, and special nephew Dick (Goofy) Conklin of Des Moines and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: Thursday 10:30 A.M. Holm Funeral Home
Visitation: Wednesday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M.
Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery - Sigourney
