Marlene Joan Mitchell, 68, died July 22, 2012 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born July 22, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to Harold Robert and Cora Viola Schott Waldron. She graduated from high school in East St. Louis and attended beauty school in Columbus. On January 12, 1965 she married James Mitchell in Sigourney, Iowa. She was employed by AT&T in Omaha, Nebraska, Columbus, Ohio, and Tacoma. Washington. Later she worked as a teacher's aid at Travis Air Force Base. In June 1984 they moved to Keswick where she worked for the Tri-County School as an aid and later Victor Plastic until 1998. She was a member of the American Legion in Keswick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepfather Marvin Glandon.
She is survived by her husband Jim, two sons Greg Mitchell of Ottumwa, Jason (Cassidy) Mitchell of Sigourney, four grandchildren Lexi, Owen, Darby, and Gram. Two brothers Jack Barr of North Carolina, Melvin Glandon of Syracuse, Utah, three sisters Linda Montgomery of Delta, Marjorie Bower of Hardin Montana, Marcia Clubb of Keswick.
Funeral Service: Thursday 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 Holm Funeral Home Sigourney, Iowa
Visitation: Wednesday after 4:00 p.m.
Burial Springfield Cemetery, near Delta, Iowa
