LaVera C. Bruns

LaVera Cecilia Bruns, 87, of Sigourney, died Tuesday November 24, 2009 at the Parkview Care Center in Wellman. She was born February 19, 1922 near Keota to Leo John and Loretta Catherine Shannon Flander. She graduated from Sigourney High School. On January 24, 1941, she married Raymond Ralph Bruns at the St. Mary Rectory in Sigourney. They farmed east of Sigourney until they retired and moved into Sigourney. She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church, the VFW Auxillary, the Garden Club, and the Neighborhood Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Helen Sheetz, three brothers Mervin "Bud", Leo "Gene", and Leonard Flander, and a son-in-law James Redlinger.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Raymond, four daughters Marcella Redlinger of Harper, Barbara and her husband Allen Raplinger of Frisco, Tx., Beverly and her husband Clair Kinkade of Rock-away Beach, Mo., Lorinda Kool and her friend Gary Williams of Cedar Rapids, two sons Gary and his friend Connie Utterback, Scott and his friend Becky Newman, all of Oskaloosa, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Christian Church
Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney
