Karen Pitts

Karen Leoda Pitts, 72, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was born April 11, 1940 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Helen Maxine Zwer Webster. She graduated from Ottumwa High School, and took nurses training at St Joseph's Hospital in Ottumwa. She worked at Sunnyslope Care Center in Ottumwa, the Manor House Care Center , and the Townhouse Café in Sigourney. On November 10, 1997, she married Fred Lee Pitts in Sigourney. He died January 23, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, a grandson Demetrious Lanman, and a sister Janice Bone.
She is survived by her children Andrea McCormick of Bloomfield, Gary Lanman of Hedrick, Tena Fritz and James Lanman both of Sigourney, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother Jack Webster of Fairfield, and a sister Lavetta Webster of Coralville.

Memorial Service - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Sigourney
There will be no Visitation
Burial of ashes - Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinburg, Iowa

A Memorial fund has been established to her family.
