Joan Kay Colbert 85 died November 13, 2025, at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born July 6, 1940, to Carroll and Goldie Longwell Wade near North English. Joan grew up near the Keokuk – Iowa county line. She attended Webster school before it closed and was graduated from English Valleys High school in 1958. Joan moved to Cedar Rapids for a short time where she attended airline school and worked. On September 10, 1959, she married Jimmy Dean Colbert at the North English Christian Church in North English. Joan lived in Germany while Jimmy was stationed in Germany. After Jimmy was discharged from the service in the spring of 1963, they started to farm South of Delta Covered Bridge. In 1971 they purchased and moved to the present-day farm. Joan was a farm and housewife and later was employed at the Manor House for 15 years. She was a member of the Expo Board, the Sigourney Christian Church and Thursday Club. Joan enjoyed baking, gardening, playing bingo and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 29, 1991, her parents, daughter Diana Smith, brother Sam Wade and Sister Jane Dietz and her in-laws- Fred and Gertrude Colbert.
She is survived by her children; Patricia Snyder of Sigourney, Pamela (Russell) Walker of Salem, South Carolina, Frank (Laura) Colbert of Webster, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother David C. Wade of North English.
Memorials may be made to Keokuk County Expo or to the Sigourney Christian Church.
