Loise Jean Vannoy, 81, formerly of Barnes City and Montezuma, died Monday, January 04, 2010 at her residence in the Sigourney, Iowa. She was born April 9, 1928 near Thornburg to Joseph Bitner Merryfield and Edna Dugger Merryfield. She graduated from the Iowa School of Beauty in Ottumwa, Iowa on April 5, 1948. In 1952, she married Raymond Vannoy in Ottumwa, Iowa. Jean was a hairdresser and was the owner/operator of the Beauty Box in Montezuma, Iowa until 2006. Jean was a very talented seamstress, painter, and gardener. She was a member of the Barnes City Community Church and Barnes City Ruritans.
She was preceded in death by Raymond Vannoy; her parents; three sisters,Juanita Merryfield, Darlene Clubb, and Marianna Hauschild; and a brother, Dorman Merryfield. Also, Doris and Woodrow Bohnenkamp and Waldo and Gen Vannoy.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Connie L. Carver of Sigourney and Cathie J. Landers of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Jeff Carver of Sigourney, Christie Carver-Jones of Salem, Indiana, Julie Hanson of Sigourney, and Katy Landers of Oskaloosa; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Carver of Newton, Cody Jones and Chrisandra Jones of Salem, Indiana, Blake DesPlanque and Dalton Hanson of Sigourney, and Taylor Landers of Oskaloosa; two son-in-laws, Carl Jones of Salem, Indiana and Tim Hanson of Sigourney, Iowa. Also, Jeannie Merryfield, Harold and Marge Vannoy, and Bob and Donna Vannoy, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 am.
Visitation will be Friday, January 8 after 4:00 p.m. at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
