Jean Strupp, 86, passed away on December 29, 2019 at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa surrounded by family.
Jean was born on February 19, 1933 to Karl and Amanda (Colbert) Fauth. She attended the Lancaster School and later graduated from Sigourney High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Floyd Homer Strupp on August 14, 1952, and they celebrated their 67th anniversary this year. They lived and farmed around the Sigourney area until they settled on Jean’s family farm in 1963, where they continued farming. They later celebrated the homestead becoming a Century Farm in 1996. She took great pride and care of the sign marking this achievement with flowers and landscaping in the front yard.
Jean worked at Albaugh’s while Floyd was stationed in Korea. She was a dedicated farm wife, mother, and grandmother who had lots of pet cows and cats through the years. Her passions included baking her grandchildren’s favorite cookies, mowing her yard, and making quilts. She often quilted at the Historical Society. She was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church, Lancaster Heritage and on the election board for many years.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her sister.
Those left to mourn her passing are her husband Floyd, son Dwight (Dianna) Strupp of Sigourney, Charlotte McVey of West Des Moines, Karen (Michael) Maas of Sigourney, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to the Lancaster Heritage.
