Janis Ipsen

Janis Laureen Ipsen 76, died October 17, 2026, at Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  She was born March 31, 1950, to Ralph Eugene and JoAnne (Townsend) Massengill in Long Beach, California. She graduated from Long Beach High School. She moved to Hayesville in 1968 and married Phil Chapman and followed him during his time in the military. They later divorced and she moved back to Hayesville. She later married David Ipsen. She was employed by the University of Iowa Hospital as a surgical tech. Janis enjoyed crocheting, quilting, puzzles, classic movies, and her dog Ceaser.

She was preceded in death by her husband David, parents, infant grandchild Shylo Roberts, three brothers John Massengill, Jim Massengill and David Glandon.

She is survived by her daughters Michelle Streigle of Eddyville, Marsha Chapman of Charles City, Joe Ipsen of Nederland , Colorado, Beth Ipsen of Fairbanks, Alaska six grandchildren Ashlee, Amanda, Brandy, Keland, Irene, LaVonne, and Xavier. Thirteen great-grandchildren and her siblings Donald (Michelle) Glandon of Clinton Township, Daniel (Melissa) Glandon of Hayesville, Jody (Dale) Reisenbigler of Morrison, Illinois,
