Harold Kerkove

December 8, 1927 — April 19, 2014

Harold Franklin Kerkove, 86, died April 19, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born December 8, 1927 to John LeRoy and Addie Louise Spiess Kerkove near Sigourney, Iowa. Harold worked at Regan Lumber Yard in Hayesville during high School and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea until 1948. Harold returned to Sigourney and worked for the Keokuk County Roads Department until his retirement. He enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening and a well kept car.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Betty Ingle, Kathleen Bailey, Mary Jane Kerber, Marlene Hicks; and two brothers, James Kerkove, Raymond Kerkove.
He is survived by four brothers Richard (Ann) Kerkove of Sigourney, Pete (Joan) Kerkove of Anaheim, California, Francis Kerkove of San Antonio, Texas, Don (Nancy) Kerkove of Hemmet, California, and one sister Carolyn (Glenn) Erwin of Tucson, Arizona.

Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday,April 23, 2014 at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Holm Funeral Home
Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney
