Francis Harris

Francis Leon Harris, 82, of Sigourney, died Friday August 16, 2019 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.  He was born July 17, 1937 in Bloomfield, Iowa to Lowell Glenn and Mary Amanda Howell Harris.  He graduated from Davis Co. High School.  He served in the United States Army.  On May 6, 1961 he married Nancy Carol Shepherd in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He worked at S.S. Kresges in Ottumwa, grocery stores in Memphis, Mo. Canton, Il. Sigourney, Iowa, Galesburg, Il. and then back to Sigourney where they owned and operated Kind’s Jack and Jill.  He was a member of the Sigourney Lion’s Club, Sigourney Odd Fellows Lodge #98, and served on the Sigourney Fire Dept. for many years.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Sigourney, children Nancy Ann Hackert of Sigourney, Robert (Beverly) Harris of Hermiston Oregon, William T. Harris of Kalona, 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Russell Dean Harris of Bloomfield, Iowa, Danny Joe Harris of South Attleboro, Mass., and a sister Cathy Reinier of Ottumwa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny Wayne Harris, brother Bill Harris, two sisters Becky Harris and Mary Beth Collier.
