Floyd Seaba

March 13, 1927 — April 20, 1947

Floyd Seaba, 83, of North English died Wednesday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1927 east of Sigourney, to Ralph and Cleo Beall Seaba. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1945. He served in the US Army Air Corp in Okinawa during WWII. On April 20, 1947 at the Bethel Church he married Phyllis Hinnah, the girl he grew up with from across the field. They farmed near Sigourney. In 1951 he began his telephone career, working in North English, then Slater. Later for Modern Coop in South English, and finally managing North English Coop in 1968. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the North English Methodist Church, was on the Board of Directors of RIITA, Past President of Iowa Telephone Pioneers Asso., member and Past President of Keokuk Co. Izaak Walton.
He was instrumental in getting the Harper Telephone Office moved to the State Fair. He loved to coon hunt, fish and deer hunt. Floyd loved telling a good story or joke and had one for every occasion. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy Smith, daughter-in-law LaDonna Seaba, and a great-granddaughter Joely Schaffner.
Surviving are his loving wife Phyllis of 63 years, two sons Darrell and wife Alyce Seaba of Goldfield, IA, David and wife Suellen Seaba of Lake Ponderosa, IA, a daughter Joellyn Caskey of North English, IA, six grandchildren Nicala Seaba Rubino (Tony), Troy Seaba (Lynn), Tamara Beisel (Jason), Trista Schaffner (Chris), Ean Caskey (Abby), Aundi Seaba-Smith (Brent), and step granddaughter Dori Venema, eleven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, and Josephine Rubino, Sarah, Garrett, Brandon, and Caleb Seaba, Jackson, and Makayla Beisel, Garin Schaffner, , Chasen Caskey, five step great grandchildren Emily and Carly Beisel and Cole, Chase, and Tyler Venema his sister Mary Louise Sieren and brother Wilford Seaba both of Sigourney, IA.

Funeral service 10:30a.m. Saturday at the North English Methodist Church.
Visitation 5:00 to 8:00p.m. Friday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
Burial-Bethel Cemetery east of Sigourney.
