Emma Ruggles

Emma Ruggles, 92, of Delta, died Tuesday at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. She was born January 5, 1916, near Ollie, Iowa to John William and Effie May Knight Estes. She attended school in Ollie. She was baptized at the Ollie Baptist Church in 1933. On September 6, 1933, she married Otto Everett Ruggles in Sigourney. Otto died on August 17, 1973, after nearly 40 years of marriage. They lived in Ollie and London Mills, IL. While in London Mills she was active in the War Mothers, making items for our service men. They returned to Iowa in 1973. She volunteered at the Delta Congregate Meal for 4 years. She was a member of the Ollie Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otto, 2 sons Rex and Mickey Ruggles, 2 grandchildren, a great-grandchild, 6 brothers, Ernie, Orville, Floyd, Lloyd, Cecil, and Guy Estes, and 4 sisters, Edna Ingle, Beatrice White, Bernadine Burwell, and Beulah Bussman.
Surviving are her children Ruth and husband Norman DeWeese and Jackie and husband Leo Fowler both of Delta, Edna Irene and husband Garry Kensler of Peoria Heights IL, and Cecil and wife Sandra Ruggles of London Mills IL., 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers Frank Estes of Peoria, IL and Delbert Estes of Crawfordville. IA.

Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Ollie Baptist Church. Burial Ollie Cemetery
Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
A memorial fund has been established.
