Elmer Herman

Elmer Gerhard Herman, 91, of Sigourney died Monday December 7, 2009, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. He was born November 9, 1918 in Harper to Anton and Anna Schulte Herman. He attended St. Elizabeth School in Harper. He served in the United States Army Air Corp, in Guam, during WWII. After returning from the war he farmed his Uncles farm. On April 22, 1954, he married Cecilia Wehr at St Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. They lived and farmed south of South English for many years until they retired and moved into Sigourney. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney and the Leo R. Farmer American Legion Post #19 in Sigourney.
He was preceded by his parents, brother Omer Herman, two sisters Lorene Herman and Bernadine Van Otegham.
He is survived by his wife Cecilia, two daughters Karla Herman of Sigourney, Marjorie and husband Randy Bickford of Bettendorff, two grandchildren Andy and wife Lisa Bickford and Jessica Bickford, two brothers Howard Herman of Harper, Myron and his wife Elva Herman of Harper, one sister Marcella Snakenberg of Harper.

Funeral Mass: Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church Sigourney
Burial: St. Elizabeth Cemetery Harper
Visitation: Wednesday after 4:00 P.M. with a Prayer service at 5:00 P.M. at the Holm Funeral Home.
