Dorothy Wilcox Wonderlich

Dorothy May Armstrong Wilcox Wonderlich joined her family and friends in the Heavenly Kingdom on February 7, 2015. Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Sigourney Hospital at 96 years of age. Dorothy was born July 10, 1918, to Harry and Bessie (Fahrney) Armstrong at the family farm near Deep River. Dorothy loved riding her horse "Old Mert" playing with her brothers and sisters and her favorite dog "Trixie." During her teenage years she discovered she could play music by ear and her love of music was always a constant in her life. Dorothy graduated from Gibson High School in 1935. Dorothy was united in marriage to David C. Wilcox on November 3, 1936, at the Methodist parsonage in Oskaloosa, IA. They were blessed with three sons. Dorothy helped David with his corn shelling business and worked at General Telephone Company in Sigourney. David and Dorothy moved to Sigourney and bought their first home in January 1962. They loved to go camping and dancing. David passed away September 28, 1970. Dorothy bought her first Bible in 1944, the same year she taught her first Sunday school class. Dorothy always believed, "The Bible is life's road map. If we do not study the road map we are likely to get lost." On October 27, 1979, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Wonderlich at the Presbyterian Church in Sigourney, IA. Dorothy embraced the Wonderlich family with all her heart. Raymond passed away November 4, 1988. Dorothy will always be remembered for her love of God, her love of music, her love for her family and friends and her genuine kindness and compassion.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, David and Raymond, her parents, her siblings, Donald, Lenore, Neva, Helen and Hazel, her son Carol Eugene Wilcox and her great grandson Austin Wonderlich.
Left to celebrate Dorothy's life are her two sons, Jim Wilcox and his wife Rose, Dick Wilcox and his wife Peg. Daughter in law Jean Frazier, Grandchildren Donna(Mike)Stevens, Kay(Jerry)Robinson, Allen(Becky)Wilcox, Jerry Wilcox, Anita(Alan)Sawyer, Jeff(Diana)Wilcox, Jenny Pierce, David Wilcox, Jill(Jim) Carollo, Roxanne Wilcox , Michael Wilcox, she is also survived by Jim (Wanda) Wonderlich and family, Bill (Margaret) Wonderlich and family, Laura Tucker and Family, 20 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Holm Funeral Home with family present from 4:00pm to 6:00pm
Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church - Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 10:30 am.
Burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery
