Dorothy Fry

Dorothy Kathryn Fry, died December 25, 2014 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born April 25, 1924 to Otto and Emma Dumont Schmid near Lancaster. She attended Country school and St. Elizabeth's Catholic School in Harper Iowa. She worked as a dental assistant. On February 7, 1946 she married Harley Lewis Fry in Kansas City, Kansas. They moved to Sigourney and she was a farmwife and loving mother. Dorothy was an incredible cook and baker. She always had the best food. She enjoyed sharing her bake goods with friends and family and just about anybody who she felt like sharing with. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved sharing her knitting, gardening and baking skills with the grandchildren. Dorothy took them fishing and taught them how to play cards. She was proud of her flower arrangements from the flowers she grew in the garden and shared them with the church, businesses and the elderly. For several years Dorothy knitted stocking hats for the elementary children so they could have a hat to keep warm. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great -grandchildren. She was special. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harley on February 22, 1984 one sister Theola Groves.
She is survived by her children Richard Fry of Millersburg, Ronald (Cathy) Fry of Sigourney, seven grandchildren, seven great - grandchildren, one sister Marge Dimerly of Marengo.

Funeral Service: Tuesday 10:00 A. M. St. Mary Catholic Church -Sigourney

Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery - Sigourney

Visitation: Tuesday 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church
