Donna Clare Steinhart

   Donna Clare Steinhart, 88,  passed away peacefully at Ottumwa Regional Health Center on January 24, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1935, to Laurence S. (Oley) and Margaret Michel Potter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1954 and embarked on a new adventure that would shape her character and provide her with lifelong values. Donna enlisted in the United States Marines on September 17, 1954. She was a supply Administration Clerk stationed in San Diego, California.  With unwavering dedication, she served her country with pride until her honorable discharge on September 16, 1957 and she received The Good Conduct Medal. Donna returned to Sigourney where she married Glen Steinhart on September 10, 1960 at the United Methodist Church. They made their home in Sigourney.  Donna was a homemaker while the kids were growing up. Donna did bookkeeping for Potters Service, and worked at Myles Miller Refrigeration, and was the director of Keokuk County Veterans Office. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, camping and going to the casino with Glen.

   Donna was a devoted mother to three sons: Brad (Mary) Steinhart, Barry Steinhart, and Mark Steinhart all of Sigourney, her eight grandchildren were the recipients of her endless affection and support. Additionally, she was blessed with six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life. Donna is also survived by three brother-in-law’s: Harold (Shirley) Steinhart of Sigourney, Wilmer (Katherine) Steinhart of Urbandale, and Terry (Marsha) Steinhart of Sigourney and sister-in-law, Pat Steinhart of Colorado, all mourns her pasting. 

   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen died on January 28, 2017, granddaughter Samantha Steinhart.

Visitation: Monday February 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Holm Funeral Home.

Memorial Service: Monday February 5, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Holm Funeral Home.
