Claude E. Fleming

Claude E. Fleming, 70, of Hedrick, died Tuesday February 5, 2008 at the V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born Oct. 9, 1937 in Martinsburg to Claude L. and Ruth Faye Pottorf Fleming. He graduated from Hedrick High School in 1957. In 1959 he entered the United States Marines, where he served 14 months in Vietnam. He retired after 20 years of service in 1979. On Nov. 6, 1964 he married Kazuko Nakashima in Sasebo, Japan. They have lived the majority of the time in California.

He is survived by his wife, 3 children Gene Fleming of Azusa, Ca., Carol Pia of LaPuente Ca., Randy Fleming of Midway City, Ca., 3 grandchildren Michael, Janeesa, and Adrian Fleming, 2 sisters Sara Redman of Waterloo, Dorthy Burtlow of Hedrick, and a brother James Fleming of Clinton Mo.

He was preceded by his parents, and a brother Paul Fleming.

Graveside service Monday 11:00 a.m. at Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick. Bill Hornbeck officiating. No visitation . Arrangements by Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney.
