Bill Holm

Mark William "Bill" Holm, 85, of Sigourney, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 12, at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. He was born March 4, 1927 in Oskaloosa to Martin Melven and Mary Elmina Folsom Holm. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army during WWII from June 1945 to December 1946. On June 4, 1948 he married Maxine Koogler at the Nazarene Parsonage in Oskaloosa. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2012. They lived in Oskaloosa where he worked for Freeman Motors. In the 1950's he started Bill and Ray's in Osky with his partner Ray DeJoung. They moved to Sigourney in 1965, where he owned and operated Bill and Ray's Chrysler-Plymouth until retiring in 1989.
Bill continued to stay busy mowing, playing cards, fishing and making people smile. His greatest joys were his family and the time they spent in Texas. He was a member of the Sigourney VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by his three daughters Jeni (Jeff) Hammes of Sigourney, Melanie (Dave) Hammes of Harper, Sue (Jerry) Morse of Dousman, WI, six grandchildren Seth (Erica), Joe, Jesse, and Sara Hammes, Kayla and Bailey Morse, two great-grandchildren Riley and Ryann Hammes, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, wife Maxine, 2 brothers Carl and Larry Holm , 3 sisters Joyce Anderson Streigel, Lois Hicklin, and Phyllis Terpstra Van Wyk.

Funeral Service: Sunday 11:00 A.M. Holm Funeral Home
Visitation: Saturday 3:00 - 6:00 P.M.
Burial: Bloomfield Cemetery - Oskaloosa, Iowa
