Betty Lou (Brainard) Vandament

Betty Lou “Bett” Vandament, 90, died February 15, 2021 in Indianola.  She was born March 24, 1930 to Lawrence and Alta “Babe” (Smith) Brainard at their home in rural Sigourney.  She graduated from Delta High School. She married Richard “Dick” Vandament and they resided together in Knoxville and then Indianola.   Betty worked as a waitress for many years, first at Traut’s Ice Cream in Sigourney and later at restaurants in Knoxville and Indianola.  She was an excellent waitress and worked well into her 70’s. In her spare time, she loved to go dancing with her lady friends, collecting knick-knacks and do-dads, and listening to frogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Larry Brainard and sister-in-law Janet Brainard.

She is survived by nieces Lori Brainard of Oskaloosa, Kristi (Jode) Hollingsworth of Sigourney, and Staci (Steve) Shettler of Sigourney and one great niece, Rylie Shettler of Sigourney.
