Betty Derby

Betty Eldora Derby, 87, died March 11, 2015 at the Care Center in Sigourney, Iowa She was born February 13, 1928 to William and Margaret Wood Northup near Ollie, Iowa. She graduated from Ollie High School in 1947. On June 7, 1947 she married Everett Derby in Bloomfield, Iowa. They lived in Mt. Vernon, Delta and moved to Sigourney in 1967. Betty was a homemaker and cared for many children in her lifetime. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved to bake and collect dolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters Helen Follman, Louise Atchison, Mildred Follman, Virginia Schmidt, Neoma Gott, one brother William Northup and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Everett, four sons Dallas Derby of Omaha, NE, Fred Derby of Marengo, Darrel (Miva) Derby of Elberon, Stuart (Doris) Derby of Marengo, three daughters Kimberly (Terry) Grimm of Williamsburg, Valerie ( Bryan) Lee of Webster, Melba Davis of Winterset, 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service:10:00 a.m Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Sigourney Christian Church.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Sigourney Christian Church.
Burial: Garrett Cemetery near Delta.
A memorial fund has been Established.
