Bettie Montgomery

Bettie Jane Montgomery, 84, of Oskaloosa formerly of Delta, died January 4, 2011 at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born April 20, 1926 in Rhodes, Iowa to Charles and Cora Belle Good Wignall. She attended Grant school, Rhodes Consolidated and graduated from Brooklyn Community High School in 1943.
On May 20, 1943 she married Paul Montgomery in Lancaster, Missouri. They farmed near Searsboro and moved to Delta in 1960. Bettie earned her real estate licenses in 1970's. She was passionate about being a part of her children and grandchildren lives. She loved teaching and reading to her grandchildren. She gave generously to her family, her church, was active at One on One and many other children activities in Delta and was a member of the Delta Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul on May 4, 1983, sister Pearl Kloppenberg, brothers Ed Wignall and an infant brother.
She is survived by two daughters Joyce Reed of Oskaloosa, Merry (Pat) Hammes of Delta, two sons Paul (Linda) Montgomery of Delta, Charles(Deanna) Montgomery of What Cheer, 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren.
