Althea Lucas

Keswick

Althea Mary Lucas died February 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family in Keswick, Iowa. She was born August 15, 1934, to Richard and Frances Blanch (Simmons) Koch in Sigourney.  She graduated from What Cheer High School in 1952.    On March 8, 1952, she married Dwaine Lucas in Lancaster, Mo. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up. They moved to California for eight years and returned to Iowa. She was employed by Kingsberry Homes and she retired from the University of Iowa as a custodian supervisor. She was a member of the Red hats and the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa. Althea enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to sew, cook and garden for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on August 29, 2008, a grandson Justin Lucas, a granddaughter Sybrina Lucas, great grandson Anthony Molyneux, and daughter- in- law Susan Lucas, three brothers Harold, Randy and Dick Koch.

She is survived by  her children Richard Lucas of Washington, a daughter Deb and husband Dennis Martin of Keswick, Mike and wife Sharon Lucas of Cedar Rapids, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandsons, two sisters Helen Weldon of Iowa City and Clara Mart of Marengo.


Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 21, 2024 at the Bethel Baptist Church - Oskaloosa, Iowa
Burial: McFarlan Cemetery - What Cheer
