Helen Wells

    Helen Wells, 79, of Sigourney, died June 29, 2008 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. She was born June 15, 1929 in Albia to James and Gladys Byerly Murphy.  She graduated Rose Hill High School in 1947.  She was married to Floyd Lesher. They later were divorced.  She later married Fred Wells.  He died April 30, 1994.  She was employed at the Sigourney Manor House for over 25 years, and was a member of the Sigourney Women’s Club.
    She is survived by five daughters, Sue Jordan, Linda Drahos, Sherrie Barnhart, all of Oskaloosa, Connie Widmar of Marshalltown, Joy Wehr of Sigourney, three sons, Jim Lesher of Sigourney, Glen Lesher and Dave Christenson both of Oskaloosa, two step-daughters, Peggy Hewitt of Des Moines, Nancy Vance of Ankeny, 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a sister Donna Slechta of Summit Arkansas.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Wells, two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, two brothers Leo and Robert Murphy and a sister Margaret Weise

 Funeral Service 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney. Burial McFarland Cemetery near What Cheer.  Visitation after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorial are to the Sigourney Senior Center.
