Irene Louise Clubb , 90, died Sunday,
September 18, 2011, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. Irene
was born March 16, 1921, to Mathias and Mary Conrad Osweiler near
Clear Creek, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Ss Peter and Paul
Catholic School in Clear Creek. As many young women did at that
time, Irene worked for neighboring women doing housework and caring
for their children.
On December 13, 1941, Irene married
Kenneth John Clubb at St. Mary's Rectory in Sigourney. She and
Kenny lived most of their married lives in the Sigourney and
Keota area. Kenny died in a car wreck on May 26, 1957, leaving Irene
to raise their six children with help from both sides of their
families. Irene was a very strong and caring person, which helped
her to succeed in raising a fine family.
Irene was employed at the Sigourney Senior Center for several
years. She enjoyed working with Barb Schmidt and many others while
she worked there. She also enjoyed seeing and visiting with the
people when they came in for their lunches.
Irene was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and
their Altar and Rosary Society.
Some of the things she enjoyed in her life; were going to
church, family gatherings, playing cards with friends, crocheting,
embroidering, and tending her flowers. Little things made her very
happy. She always wanted to make sure that everyone was as
comfortable as possible. And last, but not least, she was always
grateful for any and everything anyone ever did for her. She will be
missed.
The family would like to thank the Manor House staff for the
wonderful care that was given to Mom while she lived there the last
six years. We felt as though the entire staff treated her as if she
were their own mother.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents,
step-father Frank Osweiler, sister Geraldine Rezac, and three
brothers Richard, Cyril, and Louie Osweiler.
She is survived by her children Don (Donna) Clubb of
Maricopa, AZ, Mary Kai (Bill) Nelson of Waterloo, IA, John (Sheila)
Clubb and Dick Clubb of Sigourney, Sheila (Frank) Jacobs of Rapid
City, SD, and Gregg (Carma) Clubb of Ottumwa, IA, 11 grandchildren,
15 great-grandchildren, and 3 sisters; Lillian Coffman of

Pennington of Lake Alfred, FL.
