Janice Joan Bates, died at her home near Keswick, Iowa. She
was born July 27, 1933 to Lloyd Orville and Margaret Marie McKeag
White. She graduated from Thornburg High School. On August 20, 1953
she married Ned Lawrence Bates in Delta, Iowa. They made there home
north of Thornburg and in 1971 they moved to Keswick. Janice loved
the outdoors, living on the farm and the freedom of rural life. She
loved her community of Keswick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ned on June
17, 2000, son Jeffrey Bates on June 15, 1992.
She is survived by her children Steve and his wife Lorraine
Bates of Sigourney, Susan Bates of Des Moines, Ted and his wife
Christy Bates of Sigourney, Sally and her husband Roger Johnson of
Waverly, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two
brothers Gib White of Sigourney and Bob White of Oskaloosa.
